- Click the four horizontal lines next to the Layers heading near the top of the page, then click Show Legend.

What is the Greenweb Grant?
Sutherland Shire Council through its Greenweb Program is currently able to provide financial assistance of up to $2,000 to owners of private property within Sutherland Shire for ecological restoration of natural bushland on their property.
Council’s Greenweb program is part of a regional approach to the conservation of the Sydney basin’s remaining biodiversity.
Greenweb aims to protect and enhance native plant and animal populations by identifying key areas of bushland habitat and establishing interconnecting ‘linkages’ or corridors. These corridors which run through both public and private lands will connect islands of bushland and make it easier for the movement and interchange of fauna and flora. This will help to maintain healthy populations and diversity and ensure the long-term sustainability of the natural environment.
Ecological restoration could include such works as:
- removal of invasive bushland weeds
- regeneration and revegetation of natural bushland with local native flora
- creek bank and slope stabilisation
- habitat creation and/or protection
There is a limited budget for this program ($20,000) and a statutory requirement that it be used for those properties that are in the Greenweb network as identified in Sutherland Shire Council's Development Control Plan. Assistance will also be prioritised according to conservation value and the council will look more favourably on joint applications, i.e. with neighbouring properties.
Why do I need to apply?
The Application Form you are required to complete assists council in prioritising and selecting appropriate properties for this assistance.
The closing date for submissions is 31st August 2026.
After a site inspection of potential recipients, agreed management goals will be established and included in an ‘Agreed Management Plan’. This could include such things as the type of work to be undertaken, the size of the area to be worked, species to be planted, weeds to be controlled, time frame, and any follow-up or long-term maintenance required.
Note: Remember to save regularly when working on your application and check the information because it cannot be changed after it is submitted.
